For a long time , brunching was something that I did not like much. I think main reason being , I had this habit of over-eating so after a hearty and big brunch , I would often slide in food – coma ( yes guys , I would sleep like a log ). But after perfecting the art of brunching , I am able to enjoy this weekend siesta , which I must say my fellow Bostonians love. BRUNCH CAN MEAN different things to different people. For some, it’s all about classic breakfast dishes like pancakes and eggs Benedict, while for others, it’s about mimosa and live music. For me it has been to try something new each week and indulge in creativeness of talented chefs in these restaurants. Being a vegetarian , I always thought that my choices will be limited ( specially when it comes to breakfast items) but God I was wrong. Boston has everything to cover your weekend needs and narrowing down a list to just five doesn’t seem fair. But here is the list of what I feel are the 5 Best Boston Brunch Spots – For Vegetarians .
Disclaimer : I am an eggitarian. So I do like good omelets and french toasts but the suggestions below have amazing pure vegetarian options as well.
1) Cafe Landwer:
This Israeli chain cafe has 2 locations , one in the Cleveland Circle section of Brighton, and the other in the Audubon Circle section of Fenway. I personally categorize the food of this place as my soul food and my favorite is Landwer’s Famous Breakfast. Its like a tray filled with surprises – labneh (think yogurt) with za’atar and chickpeas, an eggplant spread something like baba ghanoush, mashed avocado, feta, side salad, Greek yogurt with granola, jam, and a very good multigrain roll. Its crunchy, creamy, rich mosaic. If you are Vegan , try quinoa & chickpea flour omelette – It’s amazing.
For egg lovers , your chase for amazing shashuka ends here :).There’s an extensive selection of coffee and tea beverages, too, not to mention juices and milkshakes. [Menu]

2) Cafe Luna :
You know what they say – persistence wins. It took me 3 visits to get into Cafe Luna. The place is so popular that if you do not time yourself well over the weekend , 90 min wait to get a table for brunch is very normal. Located on the border of the Central Square and Kendal Square areas in Cambridge , Cafe Luna features classics like egg sandwiches, but also unique items such as their fruit stuffed french toast. My personal favorite – Lemon Ricotta pancakes with fresh berries and lemon curd and for some healthy choice roast vegetable Omelet.
I must mention that Cafe Luna now accepts brunch reservations for up to 7 people though Resy only. You can book a table using this link.
Address : 612 Main Street, Cambridge, MA

3) Sofra :
I have to thank my friend Khushboo for introducing me to this real Turkish delight – Sofra is a real jewel. It is a a casual cafe cum bakery cum specialty food shop that serves tastes of Turkey, Lebanon and Greece with a twist. The space is a bit compact but the queue moves quite fast – you are looking for about 20 – 30 mins wait if you arrive at peak brunch hours. The place has some of the best stuffed flatbreads and traditional Turkish breakfast items in its menu. My personal favorites are – Fava & red lentil pate, Spinach falafel,Durum and Turkish-style breakfast. Try all this with their Turkish coffee – I mean true heaven .
Address : 1 Belmont Street,Cambridge, MA
Hours : Mon 8:00 am–5:30 pm ,Tues-Fri 8:00 am–7:00 pm, Sat-Sun 8:00 am–6:00 pm

4) Committee :
In many ways, Committee is exactly what you would expect from a cool new restaurant in Boston’s Seaport District .It has a clublike scene: lounge-y leather couches, a wraparound bar , dim lighting, and the modern-industrial decor. I mean seriously , it had me at brick walls itself ;). I so miss working in downtown Boston. Ever since I have started working in Waltham ( a suburb around Boston) , it takes me forever to discover a place like Committee. I blame my job for this ;).
The food in Committee is trendy and homey at the same time. The menu of is a mix of Lebanese and Greek meze which is why the menu offers classic meze style dining full of all kinds of small plates and spreads. The complimentary pita bread is excellent and it comes with a tangy, balanced dip of feta and sun-dried tomatoes that’s one of the best things the restaurant serves. Among the things that you must try in this restaurant – Spanakopita Grilled Cheese sandwich, Zucchini Crisps , Greek yogurt pancakes and Shakshouka.
Address : 50 Northern Ave, Boston, MA 02210
Hours : Mon- Fri 11:30 am–12 am , Sat -Sun 11:00 am–11:00 pm

5) Veggie galaxy:
My this restaurant recommendation goes out to all vegans out there. Yes somewhere in Central square , there is a diner-esque joint that offers cafe types food – all vegan.
The company mission states : “Everything we bake is 100% vegan! No Butter, Eggs, Cream, Milk, Honey, Cream Cheese or anything animal derived, but with 100% of the flavor and 120% of the love! We promise that you’ll never miss what’s not in there!”
So pretty clear that if you see burgers in the menu , it is meat free. Even the pastries are egg and milk free ( which makes me wonder , why cant i cook this way 😉 ). Their menu has sandwiches, soups , salads, waffles – I mean you name it. Best part is , they serve their breakfast menu all day long. So drop in anytime. The thing you must try : Buffalo Chick’n Burger. Yes it is meat free burget made out of house-made seitan cutlet served with Buffalo sauce, onion rings, cucumber, lettuce, tomato all on a house-made bun.
Address : 450 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139
Hours: Mon- Thu 9:00 am–10:00 pm , Fri -Sun 9:00 am–11:00 pm

While not stricktly a veg place, Taiwan Cafe has served my veg friends well over the years. Veg dumplings, scallion pancakes, eggplant with thai basil, peapod greens with garlic or black bean sauce, and several tofu dishes all are fabulous.
Peter, I am so going to try this next. I have heard a lot about it
would love to give it a try. Thank you so much. Keep giving these suggestions , I see you try a lot of places .
Interestingly, almost all of this places offer international cuisine, which is only a plus. But I’d go the last one if I were I Boston. 100% vegan sound led like a place for me.
